I’ve been watching from the sidelines as the Internet Brands PR machine have been spinning and spinning everything possible. We saw the launch of vBulletin 4.0 Alpha.. I mean Beta (heck, it feels like an early Alpha) on vBulletin.com.
But between last week’s announcement, and this week, I wanted to know what have you decided as a license holder. I’ve seen it all on the last few weeks, but Internet Brands spins it that they’re achieving record sales. Yet the question I want to ask to everyone is Who what have you honestly decided? Stay? Moved to IPB? MyBB maybe? Or another solution?
Let’s try to quantify the number of who has actually decided to stay or move on from Internet Brands and vBulletin. Leave a comment and let the world know whether you decided to stay or not, and why.
I bought as soon as I got the email… stupidly. I thought the product was ready, as why would you launch a product when you don’t have screenshots, demo, or product to download.
After I paid, decided I would wait a bit to request a refund.
They put 4.0 on vbulletin.com
I saw that I’m paying for almost no new features and code refresh with the promise of cool features down the road. Not paying $130 or more for promises and absolutely no indication of what I’m buying.
Requested Refund. Got Refund.
Bought IPB for new board I’m starting. Will use IPB from now on. Keeping my vb sites the same, for now.
Bottom line… IB won’t be getting another penny from me.
I gave my money to Invision Power Board instead of IB. Just bought two copies of their “Everything” deal. Too bad IB didn’t get the money instead!
I will be staying with vBulletin, I have faith in them, despite the recent uproar over pricing. Would like to see the new CMS b4 before committing to buy.
I will NOT be renewing my current licenses. As soon as they’re expired, I will move to IPB. Their customer support is superior compared to corporate jerks that are IB.
So, in 3 weeks time, IPB here I come.
Purchased IPB just a few days ago. I tried to look into free alternatives, but none met my needs.. Bye bye vb.
I also filed a complaint on http://www.bbb.org against internet brands. we’ll see how that goes!
I had 4 vB licenses (2 owned and 2 I administer). 1 is now with IPB, two are with MyBB and the last one stays with vBulletin – because my members and moderators persuaded me to do that.
i will never ever buy vb4,
ill play with ipb skin and adopt to my custom design then move!
Hi, I bought a license a month ago. I was not happy about them not honoring the license, so I made a paypal dispute. Got my refund back and bought IP suite. I have got the same nick on both.
I just purchased four IPB licenses and start converting tomorrow.
We reached a fork in the road and I just didn’t care for the direction Internet Brands/vBulletin Solutions seemed to be taking.
I am not upgrading to vb4. Since my lifetime banning by that jewel, steve machol. I will try to find a different software provider. Just sucks that vbulletin stole my renewal money. Hopefully if enough people contact the better business bureau of california, we can maybe wake up the boss of internet brands. First step to take, fire ray morgan, and steve machol.
