Breaking News! Ray Morgan resigns as vBulletin General Manager.
Sincere thanks to the vBulletin community!
Greetings all,
As some of you know, my wife and I own property in Central America and have worked for the last few years toward building a home there. We are now in a position where we can begin construction, and that will require a lot of time on site and a great deal of travel.
Since my role in vBulletin can’t reasonably be filled from 3,000 miles away, the time has come for me to transition various responsibilities to my teammates. I will be with Team vB through this Friday, December 11.
These changes will not directly affect vBulletin customers. The rest of the team remains intact, and the most important things are not changing:
Kevin Sours will continue to run vBulletin’s large Engineering group, with backup from Joe Rosenblum, Internet Brands’s CTO.
Don Kuramura will continue to be responsible for Product Management, strategy, and business development.
Steve Machol will continue managing the Support team, with backup from Jennifer Rundell, Internet Brands’s VP of Content.
The path to building 4.0 out the door has been incredibly exciting, and all the more so to have done it alongside such a smart and dedicated team. (Each of them has a standing invitation to visit Lake Arenal!)
vBulletin is in very capable hands. The imminent release of 4.0 is just the beginning of some very exciting things ahead. The Internet evolves quickly, so in addition to new things like the Content Publishing Suite, Team vB are working on even bigger expansions, like products and services for big-board customers, vB for mobile, and more.
Again, a heartfelt thank you to the vBulletin community for all of your support.
Onward!
Our thoughts to come later.

If Bob Brisco hasnt cleaned up by now its a safe bet he wont do it anytime in the near future. As a multiple license holder who got banned for asking why people who paid for blogs and project tools were getting screwed I feel im not the only one who would like to say screw you ray morgan and everyone else at IB.

I agree with hotwheels that part of the disaster includes the incompetent customer service personnel – especially Steve Machol. They are a real liability, and I know several big boards who have dozens of licenses who are refusing to upgrade just out of protest regarding how these people mass-banned customers.
I was not banned, but expressed my concerns pretty mildly; there’s nothing to be gained by lashing out at employees of a product that has been acquired and is in evident transition.
Re: Ray Morgan’s resignation, I view this ultimately as a positive step.

I mean really? The guy hasn’t done one single thing to improve the quality of the product, or the way customers are treated.
He’s actually done more harm than good to vBulletin software, caused insurmountable grief amongst it’s customer base, and shafted everyone at any chance he got.
Because of him, vBulletin will be releasing a bug full version of 4.0 thats going to drive people off the wall when they try to update over the holidays.

Bob Brisco is more the problem than even Ray “Record Sales” Morgan. Now that he’s absconded to Central America with all those upgrade bonus dollars, Brisco and the rest of the spin team will continue to hype and sell this mediocre pile of dreck that Ray left behind. He lives in a dream house and we get to use the vBulletin outhouse. One cancer is gone but the disease still remains… and even worse, there is nobody in charge any more. His leaving guarantees that any hope for the product to even be stable is now gone.

vb4 is going to be an outright disaster.
to floris:
I would invest in the site but look to move away from Vb..unless you want the site to wither because they will kill patches for 3.x. I am actually moving my sub-forums off of vb onto a drupal powered site now.

thank god he is gone… f*** you Ray Morgan. I hope your new home gets destroyed by rebels!
Bad luck to you for the new year!
If I could spit on your face.. I would definitely.

Ray is only one part of the disaster that took place within vbulletin.com. Hopefully bob brisco will clean house and people like steve machol, wayne luke and a couple others will be let go, or forced to resign. These guys have done all of the dirty work for Ray Morgan when it came to banning customers. They totally forgot that customers were their bread and butter. To treat us like crap by lying to us and then banning us, was a terrible customer service step. I really hope bob brisco can turn things around, but he can only do so by getting rid of the nasty people of his forums. So good riddance to ray morgan.
